Description

CambridgeLight focuses on very early stage companies with high potential in selected growth industries, including telecommunications, software, electronics, business services, and Internet infrastructure.

The firm invests in clients developing new technologies or new applications for existing technologies. Clients are expected to have world-class expertise in relevant domains. Technologists with innovative ideas but little business experience are also welcomed.

Clients are not required to have management teams when first approaching CambridgeLight. With its substantial business network, the firm can help its clients round out an experienced management team.

CambridgeLight expects its clients to be suitable for an IPO, but also recognizes that the majority of liquidity events occurs through acquisitions. The firm generally leads initial funding rounds of $1 million. Portfolio companies can expect $25 million in funds before an IPO or another liquidity event.

CambridgeLight Partners was co-founded by Daniel Alexander and Eugene E. Pettinelli.
Daniel was previously a Principal at The Chatterjee Group (an affiliate of Soros Fund Management) and managed BMW's venture capital activities in North America. He served as a consultant at McKinsey after receiving an MBA from Harvard Business School and an AB from Harvard College.
Eugene was a director of a dozen early and middle stage companies and as a member of the management team for startup companies. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering with High Distinction from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
